Pricing

In an effort to help make tutoring accessible to all students, I use a 3-tier sliding scale for pricing.

I ask families to consider which tier most accurately reflects their personal financial circumstances.  I trust families to honestly evaluate how paying for tutoring fits into their financial landscape, and I am grateful to be able to help all students who are interested in tutoring support, regardless of financial limitations.

Paying at the highest tier that applies to you helps to ensure that all students, regardless of circumstances, will have equal access to tutoring.

Pricing Tiers

Tier 1

Consider contributing at this level if paying for tutoring will cause significant financial struggles for your family. This level may be appropriate if you are supporting dependents, on a fixed income, have significant debt or medical expenses, etc.

Tier 2

Consider contributing at this level if paying for tutoring requires some financial sacrifice but does not create financial struggle for your family.

Tier 3

Consider contributing at this level if paying for tutoring does not have a significant impact on your family’s finances.  This level is appropriate for those who have access to family money or resources in time of need, investments and/or inherited money, or for whom tutoring payments will not take away from any needs.

My thoughts on equitable tutoring fees and sliding scales come from the work of Embracing Equity and the Green Bottle theory.
